The Drummond Laurie 2015 Budget Summary

Linked InDrummond Laurie final logoChancellor George Osborne delivered his pre-election budget on Wednesday 18th March.  Not surprisingly, with less than two months until the general election, it was more of a “political” than an economic statement and he seemed to take great delight in stealing the opposition’s thunder on a variety of issues!  Of course, many of the key announcements are now made in the annual Autumn Statement and so the majority of changes coming in next month for 2015/16 were known of some time ago.

 

These include;

  • The main rate of corporation tax being brought into line with the small company rate at 20%.budget 1
  • The personal allowance increasing to £10,600.
  • R & D tax credit relief for SME’s rising from 225% to 230%.
  • The “employment allowance” will again be available with up to £2,000 being deducted from Employers class 1 national insurance contributions.

The 2015 budget statement referred to several matters which will be introduced in future tax years, some of which have still to be consulted on .

Drummond Laurie Sponsor New Strips For Local Football Team

dl-map-marker-50x50Drummond Laurie are happy to support, where we can, in our community and so when Lucy Murray one of our colleagues asked us about sponsoring her son Jeff’s football team we were delighted to be able to help.

Bo’ness United Community Football Club is run entirely by volunteers and provides football training/coaching for children aged 4 and up.

DrummBU football team mar15ond Laurie are sponsoring the 2008 team of 6-7 year olds, who are playing their first season in the local Forth Valley Development League against teams of the same age from across the Forth Valley area. They play at Little Kerse in Grangemouth every Saturday.

All the children love their new strips and have great fun playing and training every week!

This letter, asks you to “ACT NOW – you have new legal duties” and is being sent in addition to the 12 month letter to raise employer awareness and ensure they know their correct staging date. (This is the deadline by which you’ll need to start enrolling workers into your fully compliant scheme). In addition it will ask employers to provide contact details so that they can provide you with regular reminders and updates as your individual staging date approaches. Read More

New Legislative Changes affecting Employers National Insurance from 6th April 2015

Drummond Laurie would like to bring to your attention two legislative changes for the coming Tax Year 2015/16 which will affect you as an employer if your employee’s details are not correct.

All employers should consider the points shown below:

The Employment Allowance of up to £2,000 per business which was introduced in 2014/15 will be repeated in the new tax year.

Also as an additional incentive to employers to take-on more young people, there will be no Employer National Insurance contributions charged for employees under the age of 21 from the 6th April 2015. This means that there will be a change in National Insurance Table Letter for those employees less than 21 years of age. Read More
