Starting Careers with Drummond Laurie

We are delighted to welcome three new members to our team this week, all starting their full-time working lives with us! Drummond Laurie Chartered Accountants

Louise Cunningham our latest CA Trainee has just completed her degree at Glasgow University, BAcc Accountancy with Finance. She was with us as a Summer Intern last year and joins us to train as a Chartered Accountant.

Ann Fairley and Jessica Wardlaw join us as Accounts Assistants. Ann has recently completed her HND in Accounts at Forth Valley College and Jessica comes straight from Grangemouth High School where she has just completed her 6th year.

Good luck to all three of you; we will support and help you all we can in the coming weeks, months and years!

Accounts Assistants – Central Scotland – Permanent Positions (Full/Part Time)Drummond Laurie Chartered Accountants

Drummond Laurie is an independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in Central Scotland. Core services provided include accounts preparation, external audit and tax compliance. We also offer a wide range of advisory services and prepare and interpret management information for a large number of clients. Our clients are typically small and medium family run businesses who rely on us for far reaching business advice.

Drummond Laurie are seeking Accounts Assistants to join our well established team.  These roles will give an individual exposure to a wide range of accountancy tasks. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered.

Duties include:

  • Assisting the management in preparing annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
  • Preparation of management accounts.
  • Bookkeeping
  • Preparation of VAT returns.
  • Preparation of corporate and personal tax returns.

The positions will suit candidates who have a number of years’ experience in an accountancy practice and who are seeking a new challenge in a positive environment and may be operating at a similar level.

To be considered for the role you must be a confident and effective communicator who is hard working and dedicated. You should also have the ability to produce accounts to a high standard with minimal managerial input.

Candidates should be comfortable using accounting packages such as SAGE Line 50 and also be comfortable using Microsoft word and excel. Knowledge of IRIS would be useful but is not essential.

The government’s auto enrolment revolution will only be reaching the vast majority of businesses over the next year. Drummond Laurie Chartered AccountantsAs our summer interns head off for a few weeks of holiday before returning to university we put them on the spot and asked them to write us a few words on their time with us.

Thank you to Gemma Ramsay and Kelly Dawson for this, we did say to them to tell us the good, the bad and the ugly!   We are delighted to hear how positive they both are!

“My internship at Drummond Laurie has given me a great insight into what working at a professional firm is like. Not only has it furthered my ambition to become a chartered accountant after graduation, but it has also given me the opportunity to learn from a great team! The ten week period has allowed me the perfect amount of time to work on many different pieces of work for different clients and to get to know everyone in the office.
