Organised by Polmont Rotary the Swimarathon created a huge splash with 150 swimmers and 30 teams swimming lengths for Radio Forth Cash for Kids appeal.  A total of 3730 lengths were completed and our team, David Wheeler, Susan Russell, Gillian Hunt, Margaret Bunyan, Christopher Wheeler and Andrew Sturrock did not disappoint,  they managed a very respectable 157 in the time allowed.

Our fundraising totalled £463 and the whole office took part with a quiz, and a couple of charity soup and cake days!   Last year the event raised £8500 and it is hoped that this year will equal or better that amount. All the money raised from this will go to supporting sick, disabled and disadvantaged children in the Falkirk area.swimarathon

It’s a fantastic milestone, and great news for the British economy.

Small businesses are the backbone of the UK economy, driving growth, opening new markets and creating jobs therefore their contribution is vital.  They encourage competition and bring fresh ideas that challenge the status quo. This stimulus in turn incentivises others to adapt. Simply put, small businesses are good for the UK.

If you have a dream or vision of being in business you too can register your business with Companies House and become a limited company. Before you rush into any decision, however, we would recommend you seek specialist advice as the limited company vehicle option may not suit your circumstances and perhaps a sole trader or partnership route may be more suitable for you.

In true Burns style a brilliant time was had by all celebrating John Mitchell Grangemouth Ltd.’s 60th anniversary with some memorable speakers and amusing toasts.  The evening was rounded off with a surprise appearance by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, who had the whole room on their feet until the wee small hours!

Thinking about a new mortgage…plan ahead!

By | Blog | No Comments

Drummond Laurie Chartered AccountantsMany mortgage lenders are now requiring external evidence of earnings to support mortgage applications.  This external evidence comes by way of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and is a paper tax calculation called a SA302 form.

If you are in the process of arranging or think you will be needing a mortgage soon think ahead and establish if there will be a need to provide this type of proof of earnings.  Do not leave this to the last minute as the information can take weeks to come through from HMRC and could hold up the process.  Your mortgage adviser should be able to confirm if these are

To get the required forms (and you will normally need the last 3 tax years) the easiest way is to call HMRC to request these.  Alternatively your authorised accountant can make the request on your behalf.
