Amie gets the chop for charity!

By | Blog | No Comments

Drummond Laurie Chartered AccountantsamieWhat a lovely thing to do!  Gillian McLelland’s daughter Amie wanted to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust a charity that provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment. Since its inception, the amie3charity has now helped thousands of boys and girls.  They work with suppliers throughout the UK and Ireland, all of whom supply beautiful, real hair wigs. For more information on the Little Princess Trust click here.

Well done Amie!

2nd Payment on Account for 15/16

By | Blog | No Comments

Drummond Laurie Chartered AccountantsIt’s that tiJULY 16 TAX2me of year again when some of you will owe money to HMRC for ‘Payments on account’!

‘Payments on account’ are advance payments towards your self-assessment tax liability and have to be paid twice a year, unless:

  • Your self-assessment tax liability was less than £1,000 in the prior year, or
  • You pay more than 80% of your tax liability at source

Each payment is half your previous year’s tax liability and has to be paid no later than the 31st January and 31st July.JULY16 TAX

As the 31st July 2016 is fast in approaching you need to ensure that if you have a payment on account to make for 15/16 that this is made to HMRC soon, to avoid interest being applied for late payment.

If you are unsure if you owe anything to HMRC, please speak to your tax adviser who will be able to assist.

For more information on our tax and other services, please get in touch either by phone on 01324 441 250 or email at

ICAS members have all achieved the internationally recognised and respected CA qualification (Chartered Accountant). They are an educator, examiner, regulator, and thought leader.

Almost two thirds of the ICAS members work in business; many leading some of the UK’s and the world’s great companies. The others work in accountancy practices ranging from the Big Four in the City to smaller practitioners in rural areas.

They regulate members and their firms and they represent their members on a wide range of issues in accountancy, finance and business and seek to influence policy in Europe and the UK, always acting in the public interest.Drummond-Laurie132

As a very sociable bunch of people at Drummond Laurie we have a Sports & Social Club that organises events thoughout the image3 (600x800)year.   This might incude the theatre or bowling or just meeting up for a good old chin wag with some food and drinks.

The latest trip was not for the faint hearted,  Go Ape at Glentress Forest, Peebles.   A Saturday morning saw 10 of our team swinging about through the trees, they all had a great time, although they did say it was a wee bit scary at times…and that was just the boys!goape2
