COVID Update – Strategic Framework Business Fund

Following the announcement on Saturday 19 December the Falkirk Council area will enter Tier 4 on 26 December.

As a result they are currently amending the application form for the Strategic Framework Business fund to accommodate this change.

Businesses which continue to remain closed or are directly impacted by law, due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions may be eligible to apply.  More details can be found here www.falkirk.gov.uk/covid19/sfbhf.aspx

Brexit – Technical Issues with EORI Applications

As a result of a technical issue at HMRC they have not been able to progress XI EORI applications.  A fix is being investigated by HMRC as a matter of urgency.

Whilst a fix is being implemented, to progress your application further you will need to re-submit your application via the link below ensuring the guidance below is followed.

If you require an XI EORI, you must ensure that only the following boxes (Highlighted in red) are ticked on the application form and all mandatory fields are completed with the correct information.

DO NOT complete this application form if you only require a GB EORI. If you require a GB EORI please follow the guidance on www.gov.uk/eori

Trading with Northern Ireland

If you are likely to be trading with or through Northern Ireland you will be required to register for an ‘XI’ EORI number by signing up to the HMRC Trader Support Service Trader Support Service . This service will help you complete any declarations with NI on your behalf as well as providing you with up to date information.  HMRC are currently reviewing business which they believe will require this and will issue these XI EORI numbers to those identified by mid-December. If you believe you will require this and have not received this directly from HMRC by 11th December, please use the link above to register for this service or contact your Drummond Laurie contact and we can advise accordingly.

EORI Number

In order to trade with EU countries after 31st December 2020, you must have registered for and received a valid GB EORI number. If you have currently been trading with non-EU countries, you will already have this in place.

You can check whether you have a valid EORI number by using the following link.  GB EORI checker Just enter GB followed by your 9 digit vat number and then 000. If you require assistance with this or require to register for a EORI number please get in touch with us and we can assist in doing this. This is a quick process and can be carried out online although it can take up to 48 hours for the EORI number to go live.

The transition period from the EU will come to an end on 31st December 2020 therefore it is essential that you act NOW to ensure you are ready for the changes this will have on trade with the EU.
