At Drummond Laurie we are happy to support young people looking for work experience and a possible future in accountancy. We understand how difficult it is deciding your future! This week we’ve been delighted to welcome Caitlin Fulton from Falkirk High School.
We asked Caitlin for her thoughts on her week with us:
“On my last day here at Drummond Laurie, I must say I have really enjoyed my week. My time here has been very helpful in clarifying what it is like to work in an office and for an accounts firm, I have now fully recognised it is a career in accounts I want to pursue after school. Prior to this week I had no knowledge of any sort of accounts – hence the 20 questions every minute! It was my maths teacher that had suggested accounts as a career for me to which I did some research on. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the work accountants do is so varied, and so my tasks this week were different each day. The Drummond Laurie team were very quick and encouraging to help me, making my work experience here even more enjoyable and beneficial in making a decision about my career.”
Now with my last year at school fast approaching and with a little bit of work experience behind me, I am really looking forward to starting my crash course in accounts and business. Fingers crossed everything goes well!”
It has been a pleasure to have Caitlin in the office this week to give her an insight into a working accountancy practice and we hope we have confirmed her choice of career in accounts and not put her off! Not only has this week helped Caitlin decide if accountancy is for her but it has also been a great help to us with Caitlin getting involved in a variety of tasks this week which has helped the team. We wish her all the best for her final year at school.
